It all started when Marks son Joe went through the Kewford feeder group and made it into the Under 7 south team, together with one Saturday afternoon whilst training his daughter Leah, Colin Worthington and Keith Marks asked her if she would like to play for Kewford girls - which she said she would love to. Mark also mentioned his other daughter's love for football and that was that, they both joined within weeks.
After a few training sessions Mark was asked by Dave Robinson if he would like to manage Leah's team but at that time Mark "didn't have the bottle" or so he thought!
After a long rethink Mark decided to put himself forward to run last years Under 14 girls and successfully finished his FA level 1 training course. At times he found it hard but overall really enjoyable mainly because the girls were so very good to work with and also so very successful, finishing 3rd in the league, reaching the semi-final of the Cup and winning a trophy on the Molinuex pitch. (Full report here)
Mark has a lot of help from his wife Wendy who never misses a match except when Leah and Sian are playing at the same time! They try to divide their time between their 3 footballer kids and their other son Kian's karate. Leah also does karate and has just been awarded her blackbelt.
Mark is an Albion fan but rarely gets the chance to go being so dedicated to his family, he played for Kewford as a lad so you can see he jumped at the chance for his kids to play for the same team as their "oldman" and as Mark says, "besides that Kewford is a very good and well organised club and can see them only getting bigger and better, and thank them for making me a stronger and wiser person."
Thanks Mark for all the work you've done for Kewford and lets hope it continues for years to come.
